“Equal Opportunities Scholarship Program, Canada-Chile.”

Ingenier@s Físic@s:

El mail que publico a continuación puede que sea de su interés:

I am writing to introduce you to an exciting new opportunity for Chilean graduate students to study at the University of Alberta, and to ask for your help.

Earlier this year, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet signed an agreement creating the “Equal Opportunities Scholarship Program, Canada-Chile.” Under the terms of the program, up to 100 Chilean graduate students will receive funding from Chile’s National Commission on Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) to study at Canadian universities, beginning in 2009.

The scholarship will include tuition fees and living expenses, as well as four months of English language studies and roundtrip airfare, and is renewable up to two years for master studies, and
four years for doctoral studies. The applications for admission in 2009 are being accepted now until December 10, 2009, through the Becas Chile website (www.becaschile.cl).

Given that the timetable for this year’s round of applications is already upon us, I wanted to share this information and make you aware of this exciting new scholarship program, and the opportunities for graduate education and research available to Chilean students here at the University of Alberta.

For further information on the University of Alberta or for student inquiries, please contact Dan Fredrick, Manager, Sponsored Student Program at Dan.Fredrick@ualberta.ca

I would be grateful if you would help me spread the word about this new program to your family, friends, or contacts in Chile. And if you know of any Chilean students interested in pursuing graduate studies, please encourage them to find more detailed information on the scholarship program, the University of Alberta, and the many graduate programs we offer at our website:

I appreciate your support in our efforts to attract new Chilean graduate students to the University of Alberta. We look forward to welcoming new Chilean students in 2009!

Sincerely,
